About the role

ODI is currently recruiting a Senior Communications Officer to increase the impact and reach of our research and policy engagement on trade, investment and economic transformation. This position will support ODI’s efforts to inform and influence government, civil society and private sector approaches to economic development – ensuring that our public affairs and communications activities are strategic, creative and coordinated.

This Senior Communications Officer is responsible for the planning, coordination and delivery of all communications and public affairs activities for the International Economic Development Group (IEDG) as well as bringing coherence to ODI’s wider communications around economic development.

About you

You will have significant experience of planning and delivering strategic communications, using your skills and creativity to inform and influence policy outcomes. You will bring all-round communications experience to the role, able to demonstrate examples of successful management and delivery of events, digital communications, and a wide range of marketing materials.

You will have excellent writing skills, and proven ability to summarise technical research in clear, compelling language. Your organisational, prioritisation and project management skills will be second to none, enabling you to juggle multiple tasks at one time while delivering excellent results.

You will be comfortable working alongside your research colleagues, helping to shape research communications for target audiences, and be able to liaise and communicate with colleagues at all levels of seniority and from different cultures.

Knowledge of trade, investment and economic transformation as a thematic area of work, including key debates, developments, policy processes and actors would be a real asset in this role, but there will be plenty of opportunities for you to learn this as you go along. An keen interest in this area is essential.
